The Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust is proud to celebrate the exceptional Catholic Schools Inspectorate report for The Saint John Henry Newman Catholic School in Stevenage.
Following its inspection in January 2026, the school received Grade 1 judgements across Catholic life and mission, religious education and collective worship. Inspectors described the school as a beacon of Catholic education where faith, learning and life are united in joyful witness.
The report affirms a deeply embedded Catholic identity, strong and visionary leadership, and a community where pupils are inspired to live out their faith through service, justice and compassion. It recognises the school’s inclusive culture and commitment to Catholic social teaching, alongside inspirational teaching and strong outcomes in religious education.
Pat Murden, Chief Executive Officer of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust, said:
“This outstanding report recognises a school where Catholic education is lived with authenticity, joy and purpose. The Saint John Henry Newman Catholic School exemplifies what it means to place dignity, service and flourishing at the heart of education. We are incredibly proud of the staff, pupils and leaders whose commitment makes this possible.”
David Carrasco-Morley, Headteacher, said:
“We are grateful for this affirmation of our shared mission. It reflects the dedication of our staff, the leadership shown by our pupils and the strength of our wider community. Our focus remains on ensuring that every young person is known, valued and supported to grow in faith and achievement.”
This recognition strengthens the trust’s collective witness to excellence in Catholic education and reflects DoWAT’s wider commitment to inclusion, high expectations and the holistic development of every child and young person.
