We are pleased to announce that St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School in Watford continues to be a GOOD school after their recent Ofsted inspection in September 2023.

Ofsted’s inspection of St Catherine found that ‘pupils learn in an encouraging environment, where they can grow and develop’. Inspectors noted that pupils are taught a ‘rich and broad curriculum’ that ‘develops their breadth of knowledge effectively’.

Pupils were praised for their behaviour, notably that children ‘understand, and have been taught, how to be kind to all’, with older pupils striving to be ‘positive role models’ for the younger children.

St Catherine is dedicated to ensuring equality and diversity is rooted in their curriculum, prioritising opportunities for students to learn about other cultures. Ofsted recognised that pupils ‘like to celebrate their differences and what makes them unique’.

Inspectors acknowledged that school ‘leaders at all levels work well together’ and that staff welcome the opportunity for collaboration across our family of DoWAT schools.

Ms Kane, Headteacher of St Catherine of Siena said: ‘We are thrilled that the inspector recognised the strengths within St Catherine’s. As ever, our children were our greatest advocates: by the way they spoke so enthusiastically about the school and by embodying everything the school represents.  Our pupils live out our Mission Statement of, ‘Be who God created you to be and you will set the world on fire’ - they are a credit to their families and the school.

I feel blessed to serve such a supportive school community. The staff and Governors at St Catherine’s are exceptional – they continually go above and beyond for our children.’

Pat Murden, DoWAT CEO said: ‘I am delighted that the commitment and hard work of the school leaders and staff has been recognised by Ofsted. I would like to thank the parents and governors of the school for their continued support and dedication to our pursuit of excellence in Catholic education. I am looking forward to supporting the school as they build upon their success and continue to pursue educational excellence.
