We are delighted to announce that St John’s Catholic Primary School, in Baldock, has achieved Good in every category of their latest Ofsted Inspection in March 2023.

Ofsted found that ‘pupils enjoy attending school’, where ‘staff know the pupils well’, they ‘behave well’ and are ‘happy and safe at school’.

Ofsted said:

‘Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive the support they need. Leaders work closely with staff to identify and plan appropriate additional support. Pupils with SEND receive specific interventions, precise adaptations to how the curriculum is delivered and specialist resources to help them access the same ambitious curriculum as their peers and, consequently, achieve well.’

Pat Murden, Chief Executive of DoWAT, said:

“I am delighted with this outcome for St John’s and pleased that the hard work from leaders, teachers and pupils has once again been recognised.

“This report is a testament to the ambition of everyone at St John’s who ensure that pupils are consistently provided with the best opportunities for success. St John’s has been serving the community for over 50 years, is a vital member of our DoWAT primary schools, who provides invaluable contributions to our Trust-wide best practice.”

Mr Tom Timson, Headteacher at St John’s Catholic Primary School, said:

“I am delighted that Ofsted have once again recognised the success of our school, St John’s.

“Our young people are thriving and together, our school community is a welcoming, friendly group to be a part of. We’re proud to be an inclusive school and it’s wonderful to see Ofsted celebrating our commitment to helping young people with special educational needs and disabilities to flourish, and dedication to ensuring children learn about different cultures.

“We recently celebrated our 50-year anniversary with our pupils, parents and colleagues and I’m so proud to lead a school that has always had its roots firmly in the community that it serves.”
