Year 10 Drama Trip - Freeman
The Year 10 Drama GCSE pupils from The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School recently visited the Pleasance Theatre in Islington to view the production 'Freeman'. Inspired by the first man in America to plead Insanity as his defence, award-winning writer Camilla Whitehill and Strictly Arts examine the unspoken link between mental health and systemic racism.
The audience, including out pupils, gave a standing ovation to the excellent actors who portrayed these seminal events with such clarity and sensitivity. The audience was treated to an impromptu Q&A session with the actors after the show.
They are delighted to know the company are in talks about visiting the school in Spring to lead devising workshops with the GCSE Drama pupils.
It was a truly enjoyable and stimulating evening to watch the 2018 'Sprit of the Fringe' winners from this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival show why they deserved their award!
