I am absolutely delighted to be joining The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School as the new Headteacher - and the latest school leader to join The Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust (DoWAT).

I have worked in education for 15 years - most recently at Whitefield School, in Barnet - and I am excited to take up this new challenge. My particular passion is for high quality teaching and learning and to ensure that every individual is enabled to fulfil their true potential.

I have worked in senior leadership for 10 years, focusing on leading teaching and learning and supporting vulnerable students. I will bring this experience to my role not only at Douay Martyrs, but across DoWAT’s family of schools. I am passionate about sharing skills, learning and opportunities, so that we can all thrive and flourish.

I decided I wanted to join Douay Martyrs after visiting the school, the community was extremely warm and welcoming. I was greeted by kind and equally wonderful students and staff – the school has a truly outstanding team. As I walked around both school sites, I could see that every child was accompanied and celebrated on their journey through school by dedicated, highly motivated staff.

When walking the corridors of Douay Martyrs, the dedication, motivation and determination to succeed, from both students and staff is palpable. The feeling of inclusion and community is admirable.

I am sure we can all agree that Mr A J Corish has done a fantastic job during his leadership at the school. The latest Ofsted inspection judged the school as ‘Good’ in all aspects and the Diocesan inspection provided an ‘Outstanding’ rating in the school’s Catholic life - not only that, but young people are bright, aspirational and polite.

I share the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust’s ambition for excellence and I’m looking forward to collaborating with other leaders across our family of schools. It’s a real benefit to be part of such a supportive and welcoming Trust.

Our school and Trust have a really exciting future ahead, and I am honoured to be a part of it.
