Nicholas Breakspear school was the first DOWAT school to receive an Ofsted inspection this year. The normal Ofsted schedule was suspended during the height of the Covid pandemic and only resumed in September 2021. Ofsted found that ‘pupils at Nicholas Breakspear School (NBS) receive a high quality education…pupils benefit from the high aspirations of leaders for them to achieve well’. Governance was also commended and their passion for school improvement was noted.
Pat Murden, DoWAT CEO said ‘I’m delighted with the report that NBS received. Whilst the school's current grade cannot change under Ofsted’s rules, the inspection team were clear that there was enough evidence of improvement to suggest the school could be judged outstanding in a full inspection. The outcome is a testament to the hard work of headteacher Declan Linnane, his staff team and his excellent local governing body.’
