The Blessed Oscar Romero Upper School Library - The Douay Martyrs School

The afternoon of Wednesday 25th January saw the much anticipated opening of the Blessed Oscar Romero Upper School Library. Staff gathered to watch former Librarians Helena Sandiland and Brenda Newman cut the ribbon for the official opening. Governor Father John Deehan blessed the library and Mr Corish read a Dylan Thomas poem to celebrate the occasion. The library is already being used by Sixth Form and Year 11 students who benefit from a quiet place to study. A coffee bar has been provided, proving extremely popular and establishing a space for Sixth Form students to work collaboratively in a mature setting.

As we approach the exam period, the new library should be a hub for pupils; it will contain additional resources to compliment to work completed in class to help each student fulfil their academic potential.
