A Level History Visit to Hampton Court
The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School Year 12 and 13 A-level History students recently got the opportunity to explore the grounds and rooms of Hampton Court.
Within the History course, we have been studying the Tudors and in particular looking at Henry VIII’s turbulent and exciting reign, which included the development of lavish buildings like Hampton Court. After exploring the kitchens, Privy Council chambers, stunning chapel and gardens we had the chance to work with an historian based in Hampton court; here we looked at different factors which influenced Henry’s decision to break with Rome. Our expert historian then took us to specific locations within Hampton Court to see hidden treasures and show us some of the important rooms where big political and religious decisions were made. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
