Half Term Visit to Normandy
During half term 34 students of The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School from years 9, 10 and 11 travelled to Normandy for 5 days on a trip organised jointly by the Modern Languages and History departments.
We visited the Bayeux Tapestry and the Normandy landing beaches, as well as the American war cemetery where we saw the graves of President Roosevelt's brother and son. Apart from history, we also experienced French culture when we went to an oyster farm and a goats cheese farm. We enjoyed the cheese tasting but discovered that oysters are a far more acquired taste. Earlier on we had the chance to make our own Normandy biscuits at a biscuiterie, and they tasted delicious. Thank you to all for making this such a wonderful trip!
