The Douay Production of ‘Grease’

The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School DMS [Dramatic & Musical Society] recently presented a production of ‘Grease’ with pupils from across the school from Year 7 to Year 13. Running over three nights, it was an excellent evening of entertainment. It was with pride we saw the months of hard work pay off making the show the success we all celebrated!

Our main characters were excellent in making their roles come to life from feisty Sandy [Abigail - Year 11] to laid back Danny [Harrison – Year 12]. Their rising stars were illuminated by the show-stealing performances of Vince Fountain [Frankie – Year 13], Johnny Casino [Dawid – Year 10] and Teen Angel in Training [Emmanuel – Year 7].

A special ‘Shout-Out’ goes to the ensemble who worked so hard creating the bustling school scenes as a backdrop to Danny and Sandy’s budding romance – Mini Pink Ladies, Mini T-Birds and Eugene’s Study Buddies! In addition, the show would not have been the same without our Beauty School Angels and Perfect Cheerleaders….. or the wonderful hard- stagehands and tech team working backstage!

While we had much support from staff within the school working on set construction,  poster design, box office and backstage – we also had assistance from the costume stores of Bishopshalt and the set storage from Hillingdon Musical Society. This was supplemented by our recent ex-pupils, Hannah and Selina, who returned from their make-up course at Uxbridge College to be our artists-in-resident plus Bradley who returned from Bishop’s Ramsey to be our lighting designer.

Our final word of thanks is for Abigail, our wonderful choreographer, who worked tirelessly with Ms O’Reilly, Head of Drama, and Mrs Arnold, Head of Music, to create a charming and thrilling production for all involved!
