Convent of Jesus and Mary celebrates Prince of Wales 70th birthday

Prince Charles turned 70 this month and a book celebrating his life and future as King was launched at the Ritz Hotel in London last week with headmistress, long serving cleaning lady and head girl at the Convent of Jesus and Mary Language College in attendance.

The trio were invited to the launch after a profile piece of the school was included in this commemorative book.

Our Future King: Prince Charles at 70 is edited by the best-selling, award winning author Robert Jobson, who has chronicled the story of the House of Windsor for the past 30 years.

The school was asked to contribute as it shares the Prince of Wales’s beliefs on the benefits of a holistic education. The Convent of Jesus and Mary Language College is cited in the book as using traditional educational principles to teach modern Londoners.

Mary Maloney a well-known and much loved cleaner at the school who also celebrated her 30th year with the school in November said:

“It was such a lovely experience, I really enjoyed it and the book is really good for the school.”

Headmistress Louise McGowan said:

“To be invited to feature in a book published to mark the 70th birthday of Prince Charles was an honour for the Convent. I believe we were chosen because of our status as a Language College and that the vast majority of our girls come from all over the world to be educated here. The book launch was a wonderful experience. To be able to take our head girl and one of our longest serving staff members with me to The Ritz and to meet the royal biographer Robert Jobson was a memorable experience.”
