Lourdes 2018 pilgrimage - St Michael's Catholic High School

Our Year 10 Pilgrimage group have returned from Lourdes.  You can read Sophia's summary of the journey below;

Amazing.  Inspirational.  Tiring.  Life-changing.  Memorable.  Emotional. Words cannot describe my experience in Lourdes with Year 10,.  Even when you visit the magical place words still do not do the experience justice. Once you step into Lourdes you feel different; the atmosphere gives off an indescribable vibe and your connection with God slowly grows. The Rosary Basilica Church, standing all above the spot where Mary appeared on 18 different occasions to a young girl called Bernadette, is the backdrop for the many beautiful memories we made with the assisted pilgrims as well as within the group. None of us would have imagined just how big an impact this trip would have on us.  Even waking up extra early in the morning seemed a joy, knowing you had a day ahead to spend at the disposal of the many sick pilgrims.  Saying “Goodbye” was the hardest thing to do.

Lourdes isn’t just about the religious aspects like going to Mass or praying  . . . it is also about character development.  Lourdes will forever have a special place in my heart.   All of us are very grateful to have been given the opportunity to go and hopefully looking forward to be returning in Year 12.
