Year 10 Ski Trip to Lincoln, New Hampshire, USA

During the February half term, 20 of our Year 10 students from The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School travelled with Mr Lee, Ms Meade and Ms Fitzgerald to the White Mountains of Lincoln, New Hampshire as part of this year’s ski trip.  We departed Heathrow on the evening of Friday 10th February for Boston, and a coach journey of under two hours brought us to our destination, Woodward’s Resort in Lincoln.  The students enjoyed a tremendous five days of skiing across two resorts, Loon and Cannon, in the most favourable of conditions with several feet of fresh snow falling during our time there.  The progression in skill made by our students in the course of the week was extraordinary, much to the acclaim of their instructors.  After the slopes had been conquered each day the students relished various evening activities including tubing, a session of team building activities, a trip to the cinema, a DVD night and a trip to a designer outlet centre and shopping mall for those all-important memento’s to commemorate our time in America.  A much anticipated High School basketball game we were due to attend was unfortunately cancelled due to the heavy snow fall.

Our students behaviour and conduct was exemplary at all times and was much lauded by our ski company representative, the hotel staff and their ski instructors.  It was a genuine pleasure to have organised the trip on behalf of such a wonderful group of students.
